What are cookies?
A cookie is a file that is downloaded to the user’s hardware when accessing certain web pages. Cookies allow a page to, amongst other things, store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or his/her computer and, depending on the information they contain and the way the computer is used, they can be used to recognize a user.
Depending on who manages the computer or domain from which they are sent, cookies can be divided into own cookies (managed by a computer or domain managed personally by the web editor) or third-party cookies (managed by third-party entities who process the recorded data through them).
According to the amount of time during which they are enabled, we can distinguish between session cookies (designed to record and store data while a user accesses a web page) and persistent cookies (when the data are stored in the terminal equipment and can be accessed and processed for a certain period by whoever is accountable for the cookie).
